About the Role: Executive Assistant (EO)

The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Chief of Staff and provides strategic support to the Deputy Ambassador. The role is based in Addis Ababa and is a full-time, permanent position (36 working hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Support: Manage the Deputy Ambassador’s diary, arrange meetings, and organize briefings to ensure he can focus on priorities.
  • Event Management: Lead the organization of high-profile and VIP events, managing everything from invitations to logistics and catering.
  • Board Secretariat: Manage the Secretariat for one of the Embassy’s decision-making boards, including setting agendas and recording minutes.
  • Information Management: Manage the Embassy’s forward-look calendar and maintain an up-to-date contact database of senior interlocutors.
  • Communication: Provide succinct oral briefings and communicate clearly in writing to ensure seamless workflow with the principal.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Experience: Experience managing a diary or office.
  • Language: Fully operational written and spoken English and Amharic.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Desirable: Understanding of how an embassy operates or experience working in a diplomatic mission/international organization.
