This role offers a highly competitive starting basic salary of 2,748 EUR per month (paid equivalent in Ethiopian Birr) plus benefits, making it one of the most attractive positions currently advertised in the NGO/Diplomatic sector.

📌 Position Details: Project Officer Agriculture

The Project Officer will be responsible for overseeing EU-funded interventions related to agriculture, rural development, food security, and agribusiness in Ethiopia.

Mandatory Minimum Requirements

Candidates must satisfy all these criteria to be considered:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Food Security, Veterinary, Livestock, or a closely related domain.
• Experience:
  • 5 years minimum experience in a similar position (if holding a Bachelor’s degree).
  • 3 years minimum experience in a similar position (if holding a Master’s degree).
• Sector Experience: Proven work experience with Public/International/Diplomatic missions or International NGOs focusing on the sectors listed above.
• Language: Minimum C2 level competency in English (ability to understand, read, speak, and write).
• Other: High level of computer literacy, medically fit, and legally permitted for employment under local law.

Assets (Highly Desirable)

Candidates with the following qualifications will have a significant advantage:

• Master’s degree in a related field (Agriculture, Food Security, etc.).
• Experience working in a multicultural environment.
• Previous experience in the implementation of EU-funded programmes.
• Knowledge of Amharic.
• Knowledge of French.

Compensation and Contract

• Salary: The starting basic salary is 2,748 EUR/month (paid in the equivalent Ethiopian Birr).
• Benefits: A competitive package includes transportation allowance, provident fund contributions, and medical insurance for the employee and their family (under certain conditions).
• Contract: Fixed-term of two years, which includes a 60-day probation period. The contract may be renewed depending on fund availability, project status, and staff performance.
