Job Summary

The Global Advisor provides global technical leadership, strategic direction, and quality assurance for Orbis International’s gender-responsive and gender-transformative programming. This senior role ensures that Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) are systematically integrated into program design, MEL, partnerships, and fundraising globally. A key component is leading the flagship Women Leaders in Eye Health (WLEH) initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Global Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of Orbis’s Global Gender Transformative Programming Strategy and establish global standards/tools.
  • Technical Advisory: Provide direct support to country offices to strengthen gender analyses, program design, and capacity building.
  • Program Quality & MEL: Collaborate with MEL teams to embed gender indicators and promote the use of sex/age-disaggregated data.
  • WLEH Leadership: Provide strategic vision and oversight for the Women Leaders in Eye Health (WLEH) initiative.
  • Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with gender equality organizations and represent Orbis in global platforms.
  • Resource Mobilization: Provide technical input into proposals and donor concept notes to expand funding for gender-transformative programming.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Public Health, International Development, or related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of senior technical experience in gender equality and social inclusion in international development.
  • Expertise: Deep expertise in gender-transformative programming, systems thinking, and global strategy development.
  • Skills: Outstanding communication, writing, and high cultural competence. Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally.
