1st Position: Internship

 

The internship’s responsibilities

 

Encourage School FLR Participation

 

  • In planning, implementation, and monitoring, assist the project technical team and the school community.
  • Execute tasks as planned under the supervision of the technical team in charge.
  • Create appropriate documentation and notify the technical team.

Assistance with data collection and documentation

  • Assist in the creation of data and information collection templates and provide Amharic translations as needed.
  • Gather recurring project data using the agreed-upon template and create a proper document.
  • Assist the partner in gathering georeferenced data and compiling a GIS platform.
  • Assist the team with event planning, facilitation, and coordination.

 

  • Attendance and discussion minutes should be taken during trainings and events.
  • Encourage training participants to evaluate trainings.
  • The technical and administrative and financial teams will assist with some logistics arrangements as needed.
  • Assistance in obtaining and organising training materials.
  • Facilitate communication with partners and service providers.

Help with communication bridges

  • When needed, assistance with Amharic translations of verbal communication during events.
  • In Arbaminch, take over the team’s responsibilities while they are away.
  • Assist the team with the creation of communication products.
  • Working with the Programme in accordance with needs and interests
  • As needed, assist the technical team with any other project assignments.
  • To contribute to the project’s overall success.

Job Prerequisites

  • Qualifications, competencies, and experience are required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • To be eligible for an internship, applicants must be currently enrolled in a college university and in their final year, or have graduated within the last year from a bachelor’s or master’s degree.

 

Work Experience: Recent grad (zero years)

 

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resource management, agriculture, or rural development, as well as strong GIS knowledge and skills.

Economic Policy Advisor (position 2)

 

A. Accountabilities

The advisor is in charge of:

  • Providing professional advice on topics such as supply chain due diligence regulations, gender, child labour, inclusion, and living income, with a focus on the social and legal dimensions of sustainability.
  • Assuring cooperation, regular contact, and dialogue with all project stakeholders, assisting with public relations work, and collaborating with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental organisations, and individuals in the project/programme environment, as well as with other projects, to improve and maintain good working relationships.
  • Contract creation, management, and monitoring
  • Assuring knowledge transfer and creating reports and presentation materials
  • Dealing with the design, preparation, and execution of workshops and other project-related events.
  • GIZ and the SUVASE project are represented at the local and national levels.

Tasks

 

The advisor is in charge of:

 

  • Facilitating the development of policy and regulatory recommendations for sustainable supply chains (e.g., EU-regulation on deforestation-free products, etc.) and advising and cooperating with a diverse range of actors and partner institutions (government, private sector, and civil society representatives)
  • Providing professional advice and managing activities on various agricultural supply chain topics such as supply chain due diligence regulations, gender, child labour, inclusion, and living income to, coordinating, and cooperating closely with GIZ and external stakeholders
  • Preparing and managing contracts and grants with external service providers and partners in accordance with GIZ rules and regulations, as well as contributing to overall project management responsibilities
  • Communication, monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, reporting, and administrative activities are all coordinated and supplemented.
  • Assisting with project management and overall project steering.
  • Qualifications, competencies, and experience are required.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Masters/MSc in political science, social science, or another field related to the project’s goal

 

Professional Background:

 

  • 5 years of professional experience in a comparable position is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a political advisory capacity is required.
  • At least three years’ experience coordinating and facilitating (high-level) political processes is required.
  • At least three years of project management and contract management experience is required.
  • Experience in agricultural supply chains, particularly coffee supply chains, will be considered advantageous.
  • At least three years of experience in one of the following areas: child labour, inclusion, and living income
  • At least three years of experience working on development cooperation projects and in international teams is required.
  • At least three years of experience in communication and knowledge management is required.

Other skills, knowledge, and abilities:

  • Excellent English (spoken and written) and Amharic fluency
  • Excellent working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (for example, MS Office).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work in multicultural teams and settings; and the ability to quickly adjust work plans and priorities in response to urgent needs and external opportunities.

3rd Position: Driver

 

Responsibilities in general:

 

The driver must provide dependable and safe driving services while maintaining high accuracy of work and demonstrating a client-oriented approach, a strong sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

  • Provision of dependable and secure driving services by driving project vehicle for authorised personnel transportation, delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items as needed.
  • Ensures cost savings through proper vehicle use by maintaining an accurate daily vehicle logbook and providing inputs to the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Occasionally, several-day field trips to remote areas are scheduled during the weekend and/or after business hours.
  • Maintain a logbook and report private vehicle use by staff for settlement.
  • Purchase of office goods and services as recommended by the procurement and contracting assistant.
  • Keep track of the fuel consumption of all CPS vehicles.
  • Letters, messages, payments, and other documents are delivered.
  • Maintain the safety of CPS office equipment and vehicles.
  • Proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely oil changes, tyre and brake inspections, car washing and so on.
  • Follow up on insurance procedures and annual vehicle inspections for all CPS vehicles.
  • Follow up on all CPS vehicle maintenance.

Registration of vehicles

  • Ensure that vehicles are registered as directed and that registration and insurance papers are forwarded to the appropriate CPS/IDP programe staff.
  • Documents completed registrations and monitors vehicle registration status (both official and private vehicles).
  • Arrange for the safe transfer/transportation of goods to their destination and notify the appropriate departments of the delivery location and time.

Qualifications:

 

  • The completion of the 12th grade
  • A third-degree driving licence is required.
  • Knowledge of first aid is preferred.

Professional background:

 

  • 3 years of work experience, primarily in southern Ethiopia.

5th Position: Internship

 

A tracer study should be conducted to provide information about the jobs created by the project in order to measure the project’s employment effects. The intern’s assignment will be primarily related to the implementation of the employment effect survey and will include, among other things, the following tasks:
