JOB DESCRIPTION

The employee performs nursing activities under the general supervision of the MSIE-designated Area Programme Office, ensuring efficient delivery of client care by recognized standard medical practice and professional norms of conduct.

 DUTIES/TASKS

• Provides nursing services to clients within the established scope of practice based on the client’s evaluation and care planning processes.

• Performs SRH interventions such as client counseling, family planning service provision, comprehensive abortion care, taking vital signs, using aseptic techniques, and ensuring infection control • Administers medication and observes and documents therapeutic effects • Provides pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care

• Willingness and ability to deliver comprehensive family planning and abortion care services as an outreach clinical nurse

• Offers family planning counseling services to help clients make educated voluntary decisions. • Offers safe abortion treatments by Ethiopian legal abortion requirements.

• Counsels patients on avoiding unwanted pregnancies and the proper use of pregnancy termination procedures; • Prepares all surgical instruments, sets, and medical supplies required for operation by accepted standards; • Assists SRH clinical officers in SRH-FP/SA surgical procedures as a scrub nurse and prepares the instruments for other operations as needed.

• Maintains a high level of quality; • Prepares clients for surgery by cleaning the operative regions of the clients.

• Assists in surgery by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, aiding surgical teams with gowns and gloves, and handing instruments to surgeons.

• Provides attention and comfort to customers • Transports messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments

• Set up the space and engage in pre-post SRH-FP and CA counseling sessions.

Associated Duties/Tasks

• Maintains high-level quality standards and employs universal procedures to avoid infection (e.g., Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS) from Client blood or other bodily fluids.

• Accounts for all assets in his/her possession during regular stock-taking and audits as needed.

• Ensures proper handling and issuance of supplies, medical equipment, and other outreach medical and non-medical equipment items by MSIE assets management procedures; • Making official requests and receiving OR related supplies from the appropriate store and being responsible for received supplies and equipment

• As needed, prepares and submits periodic reports.

• Participated in demand-creation activity; maintained tight follow-up with post-procedure customers; maintained inventory of supplies; accounted for all assets under his/her control during regular stock-taking and audits as needed.

• Properly handle client belongings • Monitor all supplies and medical equipment availability • Performs associated responsibilities as assigned by local program managers

Qualification Requirements

Education: BSc/Diploma in Nursing Work Experience:

Two years as a BSC nurse and four years as a Diploma nurse.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Knowledge of government, MSI, and MSIE rules • Ability to make reasonable and timely judgments

• Counselling ability • Knowledge of principles and techniques for effective treatment • Support for SRH services
