Calling all Graphic Designers and Artists! The Embassy of Sweden in Ethiopia and the Embassy of Ethiopia in Sweden have announced a prestigious design competition to celebrate a major diplomatic milestone.

In 2026-2027, the two nations will celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations. To commemorate this historic partnership, the Embassies are inviting creative individuals to design the official logo for the anniversary year. The winner will receive a grand prize of 100,000 ETB!

The Challenge: “80 Years of Friendship – Forward Together”

The goal of this competition is to create a visual identity that captures the spirit of the long-standing partnership between Sweden and Ethiopia. This relationship is rooted in people-to-people ties, trade, development cooperation, and shared values.

The winning logo will be used throughout the anniversary year on official diplomatic communications, digital platforms, publications, and events.

Design Requirements

Your design must meet the following criteria to be considered:

• Theme: Reflect 80 years of relations with a focus on the future.
• Mandatory Elements: Must include the number “80” and the phrase “Sweden–Ethiopia” (or “Sweden and Ethiopia”).
• Format: Scalable vector format (suitable for both print and digital).
• Color: Ideally submit both color and black-and-white versions.

Who Can Apply?

This competition is open to:

• Citizens of Ethiopia
• Citizens of Sweden

Note: Employees of the Embassies or Swedish government agencies and their immediate families are not eligible.

Prize and Recognition 🏆

• Grand Prize: 100,000 ETB (payable by invoice or in-kind).
• Exposure: Selected submissions will be highlighted across the Embassies’ social media platforms, offering massive exposure for your portfolio.

How to Submit Your Design

Deadline: December 5, 2025, at 11:59 PM (EAT)

Submissions must be sent via email. Follow these instructions carefully to avoid disqualification.

Step 1: Prepare Your Files
Create your logo files (PDF, PNG, or high-res JPEG).
Naming Convention: Name your file as FullName_Country (e.g., AbebeBekele_Ethiopia.pdf).

Step 2: Write Your Bio
Prepare a document with a short bio of the creator(s) (max 150 words).
Optional: Include a short description of your design concept.

Step 3: Sign the Agreement
Copy, fill out, and sign the Consent and Copyright Agreement (text provided below).
