898 founding shareholders founded Zemen Insurance Share Company (ZISC), a private insurance company. On January 24, 2020, ZISC registered with the Ministry of Trade and Industry. On January 17, 2020, the National Bank of Ethiopia granted the Company a licence to conduct nonlife or general insurance business. At the time of registration, the Company had an Ethiopian Birr (ETB) initial subscribed and paid up capital of Birr 112.2 million and Birr 79.89 million, respectively.

The Company started offering insurance on June 5, 2020. As of June 30, 2020, the Company’s paid up capital and equity were Birr 98,799,200 and Birr 116,653,942, respectively, according to our audited financial statement. This is the largest sum of money ever used to begin an insurance business in Ethiopian history. In its first extraordinary meeting of shareholders, the company’s shareholders resolved to expand the company’s subscribed capital from the present paid-up capital of Birr 112,205,000 to Birr 150 million.

 

First position: Manager of the Marketing Department

  • Work Experience: Ideally, at least two years in a managerial role in the financial sector, with at least seven or eight years of relevant work experience

  • Work Experience: A minimum of six and a half years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, including one year spent as a senior underwriting officer or similar
