The Role & Context
Ethiopia is currently facing complex emergencies, including conflict and drought, leaving millions in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. UNICEF Ethiopia serves over 15 million children and is scaling up its efforts to meet escalating funding needs.
The Consultant will support the Ethiopia Country Office (ECO) in securing funding for humanitarian and development programming. A key focus will be proactive engagement with donors from Korea, Japan, China, and the EU.
🚀 Key Responsibilities
- Partnership Development: Proactively engage with donors, specifically focusing on Korea, Japan, China, EU, and ECHO. Explore private sector collaborations.
- Strategy: Review and finalize the ECO resource mobilization strategy and update funding pipeline trackers.
- Proposal Creation: Coordinate and co-create high-quality proposals and concept notes in line with donor requirements.
- Reporting: Support the Donor Relations Unit (DRU) with high-quality donor reports to enhance satisfaction.
- Capacity Building: Provide training to the ECO team on proposal development and report writing.
Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify as an advocate for every child, you must meet the following criteria:
🎓 Education
- Master’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Conflict Resolution, Law, or a related field.
💼 Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in resource mobilization, donor reporting, or donor relations.
- Experience working in high-demand office settings and emergency contexts is required.
- Experience working in Ethiopia is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, and resource mobilization analytics.
🗣️ Language Skills
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in Korean, Japanese, or Chinese is highly desirable due to the donor focus of this role.
