For the following job positions, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is inviting qualified candidates.

The goal of ECA is to provide solutions and ideas for an empowered and transformed Africa, guided by Agenda 2063 and the 2030 SDGs. Developing macroeconomic and structural policy options to accelerate economic diversification and job creation; creating and implementing creative financing models for infrastructure and for human, physical, and social assets for a transforming Africa; contributing to solutions to regional and transboundary challenges, with a focus on peace security and sustainability; and advancing ECA’s position as a premier knowledge institution that builds on its unique position and privilege to bring global solutions to the continent’s problems and take local solutions to the continent

Position 1: Administrative Assistant, G-6

Education: You must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Candidates with a first-level university degree or higher are exempt from the minimum years of relevant experience requirement, which is reduced to five years.

Work Experience: It requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in related fields such as conference service, general office support, or administrative work. It is necessary to have prior filing and office equipment use experience. It is preferable to have prior experience working for high-ranking officials in a global organization.

• Initiate, review, process, and monitor actions related to the administration of the section’s/unit’s human resource activities, such as hiring staff and consultants, placing them, promoting them, relocating them, conducting performance reviews, reviewing job classifications, separating staff members, providing training, etc., while guaranteeing uniformity in the application of UN rules and procedures. This is all within the purview of the Administrative Assistant’s delegated authority.

anguage: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Position 2: Programme Management Assistant, G-6

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience:  It is necessary to have at least seven (7) years of experience in technical cooperation, project or program administration, or a similar field. For candidates with a first-level university degree or above, the required minimum years of relevant experience is lowered to five (5) years. Sensible It is preferred to have at least one year of experience in data analytics or a related field. It is preferred to have experience in human resources, administrative services, or a similar field.

This role is in the Publication, Conference and Knowledge Management Division (PCKMD) and the Office of the Chief, Publication and Conference Management Section (PCMS). Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Section and the general supervision of the Director of PCKMD, the Programme Management Assistant will work.

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
