At the Embassy, the Corporate Services Officer will support the major strategic corporate priorities in their execution. The project will help with the ongoing overhaul of the Embassy’s corporate operations, which includes the systems, templates, and workflows.

Position: Corporate Services Officer – HR

Skills/Attributes Required
  • strong written and spoken communication skills in Amharic and English.
  • shown ability to set priorities in order to meet deadlines, think strategically, use creativity and judgment to get results and apply all of these skills.
  • the capacity for critical thinking, in-depth analysis, and evidence-based recommendation making.
  • computer literacy with SAP finance systems and Microsoft programs already in place.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong sense of initiative, teamwork and organizational abilities, and the capacity to work with little direction are all necessary.
  • postsecondary education or relevant work experience in accounting, financial management, or human resources
  • shown capacity to establish and preserve successful connections (both internally and externally)the ability to comprehend knowledge sharing in an organizational setting and to encourage it.
  • The capacity to behave in a way that upholds the Australian Embassy’s code of conduct while exhibiting moral rectitude and honesty.
The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Handle paperwork and create reports about personnel-related activities (e.g., hiring, training, grievances, performance reviews, etc.).
  • oversee the hiring procedures for every employee who is locally engaged (LES).
  • Oversee the embassy staff’s appointments, onboarding, and departures.
  • Oversee the terms of employment for contract workers in compliance with relevant labor laws.
    Advice on effective personnel management, including T&Cs, benefits, pay, employee relations, performance reviews, termination procedures, and WHS concerns, should be given by LES.
  • All HR records, including those pertaining to performance management, employee benefit plans, leave balances, training, LES, and Australian staff medical costs, should be updated, processed, kept up to date, and reported on.
  • Keep abreast of legal requirements, DFAT rules and regulations affecting HR functions, and government reporting regulations.
  • Help oversee the Embassy’s financial operations in compliance with DFAT’s financial guidelines, which include budget reporting and the fringe benefits tax.
  • Contribute to payroll preparation by completing net pay calculations and supplying pertinent data (leave, bonus, absences, etc.).
  • Create SAP invoices for receivables and refunds from A-based and LES.
  • Back up the entire range of duties performed by the finance officer.
    Ensure that records are kept in compliance with applicable records management policies and guidelines by helping with the upkeep, evaluation, and redesign of the record management systems.
  • Assist with all aspects of consular and passport work as a backup.
