Position 1: Visa and Consular Section Assistant Clerk

The following is the job description:

• Handling and initial evaluation of visa applications

• Interviewing people at the counter

• Entering applicant information into the electronic visa system

• Handling client inquiries via phone, email, or in person

• Translating and interpreting from Amharic to English and vice versa

Job Prerequisites

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent administrative experience

• Excellent command of Amharic and English (both required).

• A sufficient command of the German language in reading and writing is preferred (applicants with higher language proficiency in German will be preferred).

• Knowledge of the following languages is advantageous: Tigrinya, Somali, Oromo, Arabic, and French are among the languages spoken.

• Working knowledge of common IT programs (Word, Excel, and others) We anticipate:

• Fair, honest, and professional interactions with the public and colleagues

• Dependability, commitment, and job dedication

• A desire to work in a service-oriented environment.

• Willingness to learn how to use special software used in the visa section. 

• Capable of working in a team while remaining polite and respectful

The Embassy is offering a full-time position with a 40-hour work week.

• The contractual relationship will be governed by Ethiopian law. The salary is based on the current salary scheme of the Embassy. Medical insurance and other benefits are provided to employees and their families under certain conditions. The probation period is three months.

If your application is accepted, you will be notified in October 2023 and invited to the Embassy for an interview. Following that, you will be required to present original documents. Please keep in mind that the Embassy is unable to reimburse interview-related travel expenses. Please accept that your application was unsuccessful if you are not invited for an interview.

Please keep in mind that the selected applicant will be subjected to a medical examination and security clearance by German authorities.
